Based on my experience with trying to decide on a topic for my first project, I started collecting ideas for my Sinatra project a few weeks ahead of time. When I reached project time, I was prepared with a few ideas that I was still agonizing over, but I was able to narrow down my choices based on the project requirements. The MVC for Sinatra only needed to have a “has_many”/”belongs_to” pair of relationships, so I settled on a “Books to Read” app that would allow Users to have a list of many Books (each book would belong to a user).
I was a little intimidated by this project, which caused me to procrastinate. I spent a lot of time trying to wrap my head around what the project was all about. I watched the many videos provided on the project page. I attended the Pre Project Study group and went to the Project Office Hours. And then I poured over websites that I might want to use to source my project. I wanted to pull data for something that was unique and that related to my interests. After hours of perusing web pages I could not settle on one idea and ended up submitting proposals for several ideas, hoping that the feedback on the proposals would help launch me out of analysis paralysis/ crippling indecision mode.
Today, while working on a lab, I ran into the words “twiddle-wakka” in an error for one of the tests. I thought the test case for the lab had swallowed a squirrel or something…what on earth was it talking about? So I looked it up on Google…and this is what I found:
“Sometimes your only available transportation is a leap of faith.”
